How can I order from BFF?

Most of furniture items are made to order, but we do have some ready-made items and available immediately. Each furniture item listed on our website will show if it is available for purchase or ordering. If you are not sure, please contact us at info@bibbyfinefurniture – we are happy to answer any of your questions.

How long will my order take?

As all our furniture pieces are made to order, it usually takes about 2-4 weeks. Custom orders or larger orders will usually take longer, but we can discuss timelines with your at the time of placing your order.

Is it possible to customize furniture?

Yes, at BFF we allow you to personalize your furniture item – we can customise the design to your dimensions and we also offer different wood types and stain colours and hardware to help you create the perfect item for your home. Once we have finalised your custom order, you will receive a computer generated drawing of your design with details and dimensions, once you have approved the final design, dimensions and wood, we will start with your item. More complex designs might take longer, but we will discuss the estimated timeline with you. Custom orders do require a 50% deposit. Before you order, please ensure that your new furniture item will fit into your space and will be able to pass through all doorways, elevators and staircases. Custom item measurements will be sent to you for approval, please ensure that these dimensions are not bigger than your doorways, elevators and staircases.

What type of wood do you use?

We use Canadian hardwoods such as oak, birch, maple, cherry and walnut. We can also source more exotic woods such as teak, iroko and other wood species if required. View some of our wood species here

Do you offer custom stains?

We have a selection of tried and tested stain options available, but we are happy to go the extra mile for our customers to colour match an existing item for a small fee. View some of our stain samples here

Wood or stain samples?

Yes, most certainly. If you are not the Nelson area, we are happy to mail wood and stain options to your home address at no cost.

What type of finish do you use?

At BFF we use a variety of water based and oil based finishes and each finish is chosen carefully for each wood species. Our finishes enhance the natural beauty of the wood while providing protection so that your furniture will live up to daily life and use.

What type of payment do you accept?

We prefer e-transfers. We also accept all Mastercard and Visa, however we add a 2.4% service charge for using credit cards

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a 50% deposit for all orders, this will also ensure that you order will be next in line for production.

Do you deliver locally in Nelson, BC?

You are welcome to collect your item at out studio outside Nelson or we offer FREE delivery in the Nelson area. A delivery charge will be added for outlying areas.

Do you ship across Canada?

Yes, we can arrange shipping anywhere in Canada – shipping costs are calculated by weight and shipping address, rural or remote locations might be more. We can discuss shipping options and shipping rates with you to find to best option for your delivery.

White glove delivery service?

White glove delivery service is the best for larger furniture items across Canada. This service includes: Delivery to your address, each item will be placed in your room of choice, and all packing materials will be removed. Please enquire if you are interested in this type of service.

Do you ship to the USA?

US shipping can be arranged, but customers are responsible for all taxes, duties, carrier fees and custom declarations.

Do I have to assemble my furniture?

Absolutely not, all our furniture items will arrive fully assembled and ready to use. This allows for solid construction and add durability and strength to your furniture.

Do you have a Warranty program?

We pride ourselves in providing quality wooden furniture and we stand behind our workmanship and hand-selected hard woods. Natural hardwood is an organic material and as such every item produced by BFF is unique in appearance and character. We do however hand pick every piece of wood to ensure the wood tone and wood grain will compliment your design, but variations are natural and is part of the charm of wooden furniture. For this reason wood stains will also be absorbed slightly differently between different pieces, so you can expect some colour variation. We use our expertise in blending the variations towards conformity, but uniformity cannot be 100% guaranteed. You can also expect that your furniture item will age beautifully and differentiation amongst grain can be expected over time. Humidity levels can affect your furniture – all our furniture is made with expansion in mind and will expand and contract perfectly in most homes. However during the winter and in very dry areas you might need to use humidifier to control your humidity - to keep your furniture in the best condition your home’s relative humidity should stay between 30-40%.

Decorator or Interior Designer?

Yes, if you are a decorator, interior designer, stager or home building company we offer a discounted rate. Must have a valid Decorating/Design/Staging/Home building company. Please contact us here

How do I care for my furniture?

At BFF we build furniture that is made to last, but will need some care from you to keep it as good as new. Clean your wooden furniture with a soft soap and a damp cloth, do not use any solvents or any other cleaning agents. Do not use wax, furniture polish or other silicon polish

Place furniture items away from radiators, heating vents and wood-burning stoves, the humidity in your room should stay at about 30-40%. Make sure your furniture is not exposed to direct sunlight, unless it is outdoor furniture which will be treated against the elements.

Although all our table tops are finished with a durable product we do recommend that you take care with placing décor items not to scratch the surface. Also avoid liquid spills and use coasters for cups and glasses.
